Mase thought he received Red Octobers, but not quite. One of the most famous sneakers of all time is the Nike Air Yeezy 2 “Red October”. This sneaker has a pretty insane resale value, and it was the last shoe Kanye ever released with Nike. There’s a lot of history and fanfare behind this release, and to this day the shoe is a holy grail for many sneakerheads. If you have a pair, your sneaker collection is automatically valid in the eyes of purists and even hypebeasts. Kanye has always been a fan of the all-red aesthetic. These days, monochromatic red sneakers are getting the nickname “Red October,” and unfortunately, that’s led to some confusion. For example, Mase was tricked into believing he was given a pair of Red Octobers, but in the end, he got a very different shoe.

In the Instagram video below, Mase could be seen dancing around his closet in an all-red outfit. Throughout the clip, he said Kanye gave him a pair of Yeezy Red October. Unfortunately for Mase, that’s just not the case. In fact, he actually received a pair of Louis Vuitton Dons, a collaboration Kanye did before joining Nike. The shoes are entirely red, so it’s easy to see how one could make the mistake.
Either way, these are great looking shoes, and we’re sure Mase is happy to have them in his collection. Maybe next time you can succeed with real Red Octobers.
