Editor’s Notes: Animal print is making a comeback at Nike, thanks to the recently unveiled Solefly Air Jordan 1 Low and the new Air Jordan 11 “Animal Instinct”.
Footprints borrowed from various four-legged beasts are commonplace in the Swoosh arsenal, most notably with the Air Max 1 “Safari”, Air Safari and Dunk Low “Safari” atmos.
Lately, it’s been a bit quiet for these finishes, and the ones we saw didn’t hit the mark.
the Netflix documentary, The last dance, introduced the team, the moments and qualities that cemented Michael Jordan’s legacy – one of those qualities being his animal instinct, the instinct of a champion.
Taking inspiration from winning quality and the Air Jordan 3 “Animal Instinct”, this new Air Jordan 11 acts as an inverted version of the classic “Concord” colourway.
“Concord†– the silhouette’s most recognizable colourway – pairs a white base with a black patent leather overlay, while “Animal Instinct†goes for a black base and an animal print overlay. Instead of patent leather, a pony hair “Sail” mudguard combines zebra and leopard prints.
Released as part of the expansive Jordan Brand Holiday 2021 calendar, this colorway is the next in a line of originals bringing new life to the retro Air Jordan family.
