Currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Nike Air Max 97 is expected to return in original colorways before the end of 2022. And while the Swoosh is surely busy getting all the details on these retros, it’s also invested energy to reinvent Christian Tresser’s iconic design in new styles.
Although they have yet to receive an official brand moniker, pairs for an upcoming Nike Sportswear collection have started surfacing over the past couple of months. Tresser’s pond-inspired silhouette will therefore soon join other classics like the Nike Dunk and Nike Air Huarache in monochromatic colourways paired with brighter blue, red and neon yellow tones, as well as backpack accessories. Velcro. At a glance, the shoes line up with previously seen “Panda” makeups, but the capsule adorns each offering with a jumbo letter “N” patch reminiscent of those found on varsity jackets. Removable, the component helps wearers “personalize” the Air Max version.
