Dozens of sneaker designs have stood the test of time from some of the biggest brands of the past 70 years. However, some of the most iconic models have succeeded the current year by constantly demonstrating an ability to adapt, without reacting on their laurels.

Heading into 2022, the Nike Air Force 1 has emerged in a handful of arrangements reinvented thanks to designers like Matthew M. Williams. Plus, playful UNO-inspired grips introduced new color blocking to the basketball-inspired silhouette. Likewise, the Air Jordan 1 Low, which debuted in 1986, has appeared in one of its most daring styles to date. Platform soles and cork socks divert Michael Jordan’s first signature sneaker from any hardwood court, setting it up for runway shows across the globe. The youngest parent of the bottom, the Air Jordan 4, also joined the select list of sneaker-turned golf shoes, as its ‘Black / University Red’ (‘Bred’) colourway appeared with spikes made for. the green.

Despite their dedication to the future, the best players in the sneaker space would be remiss not to revisit their archives every now and then. FILA did this recently by creating a special edition of the Grant Hill 1 in the Sprite colors. Rumors have also emerged that the Nike Air Max Penny 1 will start a retro run in 2022 with original styles compatible with Orlando Magic. Expected by no one, Stephen Curry’s first signature sneaker with Under Armor was first unveiled as retro in November.

Far from the memories, new proposals like the Nike Air Max Dawn and the always polarizing YEEZY FOAM RUNNER have surfaced for the first time and in new styles, respectively. The Nike Kyrie 8 also first appeared in official images, suggesting that all parties involved are moving forward with the design.
