YG and K-Swiss team up for a new collection of sneakers and capsules
YG has teamed up with shoe brand K-Swiss to deliver a new sneaker that combines the rapper’s booty with the company’s patented look, marking the start of a “line of classic LX sneakers reinvented”.
Rightly called the ‘Disco’, the first sneaker in the capsule collection is wrapped in a metallic silver glitter material on the upper, with matching metallic stripes on the side. The shoe is loud, but that’s by design. As YG explained, he wanted the collaboration to reflect his own bold style wrapped in the K-Swiss LX model.
“You have to be confident to wear them as I wear them… you have to have swag… you have to have gravy,” YG said.
This is not the first time that YG has ventured into the world of sneakers and put his twist on a shoe. The artist recently released the latest red / white iteration of his “Block Runner” sneaker. Resembling a Nike Cortez, the shoe is dressed in a custom sole and features red leather with a contrasting white colored “The Flame” logo stretched across the quarter panel.
The new collaboration with K-Swiss is even more interesting considering its difference with YG’s Block Runner, while remaining unique. K-Swiss are known for trying out a wide variety of ideas with their sneakers – their collaboration with ghost hunters for the 35th anniversary of cinema comes to mind, so YG’s Disco fits perfectly into its catalog.
The limited edition K-Swiss and YG collaboration is available now exclusively on footlocker.com for a retail price of $ 120. Check out a few snaps of the sneaker below and stay tuned for more on their capsule collection.
